Teens Do you want to dance? Do you want to have fun? Meet new people or just have something cool and fun to do with your friends? Ballroom dancing is a great way to keep fit while improving self-confidence. Dancing promotes positive body awareness, rather than negative physical stereotypes, while developing posture, flexibility and muscle tone. Dancers also develop social skills, teamwork, respect for others and themselves. Above we have fun! Elaine has been teaching Ballroom, Latin, and Swing dancing to teens as part of their physical education program at Prince of Wales Secondary and Kitsilano Secondary for three years, and has twice been a guest instructor at Brittania Secondary's World Music Symposium. Teens Group lesson: Saturdays from 5:30 to 6:30 Private lessons, performance opportunities, or competition are also possible. |

I think this class is a great environment for learning. The material is well covered and step patterns and techniques are taught in many dances. You dance with people your own age, so its not uncomfortable, and you make great friends. You get to dance to music that is played at high school dances, parties, and grad; not just at the dance school. The entire system is set up so you learn for fun with no stress or tension, and its good for your back and body, and over all health. Our Teens Class started in the summer of 2006. Since then, we've had so much fun that we've invited all our friends, and attendance has gone up significantly. Everyone has great, unique personalities, and are a pleasure to dance with as well as creating a humourous environment! J.M. |
